About

Get To Know Your Counsellor

As a therapist, I strive to empower clients to discover their own strengths and potential so they can move forward in life, feeling more confident and secure.

My name is Yasmeen, and I am a Resilience Expert Trainer with over 15 years of experience in counseling and resilience training. I hold a Masters in Counselling Psychology from the University of Calgary and a Bachelors in Applied Psychology from Concordia University. I am an experienced counsellor with a unique global perspective, having lived and worked in 5 Canadian provinces, Asia, and the Middle East. I draw upon my diverse background to engage children, adolescents, adults, expats, and high performance individuals in developing an understanding of themselves.

As a therapist, I strive to empower clients to discover their own strengths and potential so they can move forward in life, feeling more confident and secure. My therapeutic approach is eclectic and integrative, creating a boutique experience for everyone that is tailored to their specific challenges and desired outcomes. I also strongly focus on developing resilience by helping clients identify resources around them that will support them through difficult times.

My goal as a therapist is to provide a safe space for clients to explore their challenges, process difficult emotions, and recognize their strengths. I understand that everyone has unique circumstances and needs, so my therapeutic sessions are tailored to the individual seeking help.

I am an existential therapist at core and would be honoured to join you in your journey of self-discovery. I can get philosophical with you and really engage with you as you discover who YOU really are while fostering a sense of compassion, respect, and empathy.

My Dreams - What Drives Me

"And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." — Anaïs Nin

Helping people realize their truth, find inner strength, and develop skills for lasting transformation.

Being vulnerable is scary, change is hard, and growth can be painful. I am here to remind you that whatever it is that’s keeping you stuck and in pain doesn’t have to stay the same forever. I believe that only through taking risks, facing our fears, and embracing the unknown can we learn how resilient we truly are.

This is why I love being a therapist – helping people realize their truth, find inner strength, and develop skills for lasting transformation. It’s what drives me every day – inspiring others to see the beauty of their existence and daring them to become who they truly want to be!

My Achievements Over The Years

Over the years, I have developed my own repertoire of resilience building.

This includes a black belt in Kung Fu and being a registered yoga teacher with the Canadian Yoga Alliance. My work has also been recognized by certifications from the Resilience Research Institute as a resilience expert trainer.  Additionally, I have completed Part 1 of Foundations of Play therapy offered by the Canadian Association for Play Therapy, allowing me to bring play-based interventions into my practice. I am currently working on completing Part 2. I have also made a great effort to work with communities around the world by founding and serving as CEO of The Global Schoolhouse Initiative – a Canadian registered charity that provides free education versed in resilience development. Introducing such works to children who would otherwise not be exposed to them is an endeavor that I am extremely proud of. I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.

Why Choose Santé Liberté Counselling

Human beings are diverse and dynamic, so any approach to your mental well-being should be as well.

Human beings are diverse and dynamic, so any approach to your mental well-being should be as well. That being said, I believe in an integrative approach to counselling, drawing mainly on the humanistic and interpersonal approaches while utilizing various theory-based modalities such as logotherapy, psychoanalytic, solution-focused, and strengths-based therapies.

I take a holistic approach to metal health that provides someone with the opportunity to experience ‘true’ freedom – freedom that is a choice – freedom that comes only from a perspective and choice in how we think. With respect for each individual’s unique background, needs and goals, I strive to build a truly personalized therapeutic experience catered specifically to you. As Victor Frankl wisely said – “The last of the human freedoms: to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”

I believe that only through taking risks, facing our fears, and embracing the unknown can we learn how resilient we truly are. My approach is one of collaboration; I may offer suggestions, but ultimately, the decision-making process rests with the client. It is my goal to help you recognize your own truth, cultivate resilience within yourself, and ultimately gain insight into the challenges you are facing so that you can move forward with confidence and grace.
